Ian Rapoports Vikings update on Kyler Murray is potentially huge new
Kyler Murray is officially a free agent. When the new NFL league year began on Wednesday afternoon, his release could be completed. And it only took NFL Network's Ian Rapoport one minute into Murray's free agency to share a major update. on X: "The #Vikings plan to make a push for Kyler Murray and are the favorite to land the former No. 1 pick, sources tell me and@TomPeli sero. Finally released now by Arizona, Murray will take his time and wants to hear directly from other teams. But Minnesota is the team to beat." Ben Rortvedt Jersey MORE: Things had started to move in this direction, and it's just one more tally in favor of Murray ending up with the Vikings. The Vikings have had an underwhelming first two seasons from J.J. McCarthy, both with injuries and ineffectivene s, and likely would hope Murray is an upgrade. On paper, he is. Murray, even with his struggles and injuries the last couple seasons, is far and away a more talented quarterback than McCarthy. Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell would love to get Murray into his offense for some creative adventures that he couldn't attempt with McCarthy. Murray is already earning lots of money from the Cardinals after his release, so the Vikings presumably wouldn't have to break the bank to sign him, either. Murray was the 2019 Rookie of the Year and a two-time Pro Bowler after being the No. 1 overall pick. He threw for more than 20,000 yards and ran for more than 3,000 with the Cardinals. He also threw 121 TDs with Arizona and ran for 32 scores. Now, his time with the Vikings appears to be approaching, although not yet official. More NFL news: Christopher Morel Jersey
