The NFL's free agency activity can lead to some curious things between when the legal tampering period opens and when signings can become official a few days later. The latest instance of that involves the , the and Brock Hoffman. A by insider Jordan Schultz -- his report said that interior offensive lineman Brock Hoffman has signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh. That deal couldn't actually be completed until Wednesday afternoon when the new league year begins, though, and Hoffman is pushing back on the report. posted this on X later in the evening: "Just talked to Cowboys free agent OL Brock Hoffman who said he has NOT agreed to any deal with Pittsburgh or anywhere else. He is Jeremiah Estrada Jersey still a free agent." MORE: So which is it? We'll likely get a better idea by the end of Wednesday, but it's at the very least a fascinating development. It might be an example of one of the potential pitfalls of this two-pronged free agency setup in the NFL. Or it might simply mean the report of Hoffman's contract wasn't right. The 6-foot-4 Hoffman, who is 26 years old, was an undrafted player after spending his college career first at Coastal Carolina and then at Virginia Tech. He had spent all four seasons of his NFL career with the Cowboys. He started 14 games over the past two seasons, and 16 overall. Hoffman appeared in just three games in 2022. In 2023, it was two starts acro s a full 17-game slate. He played all 17 games again in 2024 and in 2025, starting seven games in each of those two seasons. Hoffman has added value thanks to his ability to play center, left guard and right guard. It's just not clear at the moment where that skillset is actually going to end up.
