The have gone from a team that mi sed the playoffs each year for nearly a decade to a team on a short list of top Super Bowl contenders entering the 2026 NFL season. The Broncos got within an eyelash of representing the AFC in Super Bowl LX this past season and the direction of the team, led by a plan to re-sign as many players as po sible, is indicative of a team that knows it's close. Bo Nix set to regre s in 2026? Gagnon's projection would certainly be concerning, but it's based completely on perception and not reality. To compare Nix to C.J. Stroud is already a bit misleading. Stroud didn't really "regre s" in 2025. He was tremendous as a rookie, throwing for over 4,000 yards. But this past season, he had the highest completion percentage and QBR in his short three-year career. He also took the to the divisional round of the playoffs. Nix certainly did not regre s in his second season. Statistically, he put up similar numbers to what he posted as a rookie in 2024. But he led the Broncos to many one-score victories and he tied Ru sell Wilson for the most wins by a quarterback (24) in the first two years of a career. Teams don't get to the doorstep of a Super Bowl with a quarterback who has regre sed. The Broncos do play in a tough division. The , Chargers and even the Raiders all have a good chance to be better than they were last year. That will make repeating as division champions difficult for the Broncos. Nix will be returning from a broken ankle in January. That ankle turning into a recurring i sue or there being degenerative damage is the real nightmare scenario for this team.
