I've been listening to Dowland's Mala Gestión non-stop since I stumbled upon it on Zip 2026. It's been months now, and I still can't pinpoint exactly what it is about this album that draws me in. The more I listen, the more I feel like I'm grasping at straws trying to put my finger on it.

Understated yet Unsettling

The thing that strikes me about Dowland is the way they balance restraint with a sense of unease. It's like they're tiptoeing around the edge of something, but refusing to commit to it. Take the opening track, "Hacen", for example. It's a slow-burning exercise in tension, with Dowland's vocals hovering just above a whisper. The instrumentation is sparse, but it's enough to create this sense of unease that hangs over the entire track. And yet, despite the sense of foreboding, there's something strangely compelling about it. It's like you're drawn in, even as you're telling yourself you should be running away.

What's the Point of It All?
