I've been listening to a ton of music this year, and I have to say that some of the most exciting stuff I've heard has been from artists who are still flying under the radar. One album in particular that's been on repeat in my car is Into The Unknown by Dowland Lunxtxtee. I mean, what's not to love about a name like that? It sounds like something out of a fantasy novel. My Favorite Albums of the Year So Far

So I've got to give some love to a few other EPs that caught my attention this year, particularly 𝘿o𝘽𝗮𝘿𝗲𝘼𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗾 - Dark Matter - EP (z𝙞𝚙 2023) which, I gotta say, has some seriously impressive production.

The EPs That Almost Made the Cut

Now, I know some folks might say that an EP isn't a "real" album, but I think there's something special about the concise nature of these shorter releases - and some of these almost-made-the-cut EPs are really something special.

Take 𝙒𝙖𝙫𝙚 - The Awakening - EP (z𝙞𝚙 2024) for example. This one's got a really cool, atmospheric vibe that just draws you in. I mean, the lyrics are really personal, and the way the different tracks flow together is just magic.

Or how about 𝘾𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙖 - Lost in the Haze - EP (z𝙞𝚙 2024) - this one's more on the electronic side, but the beats are infectious and the melodies are catchy. Plus, there's this one track that just hits you right in the feels.

The Value of Experimentation

One thing I think is really important these EPs is the sense of experimentation that a lot of them have. I mean, artists are taking risks and trying new things, and that's what it's all about, right?
