Dust on the Wires can feel rough the first time you try it, mostly because the whole thing has to be done in one deployment. That's the part plenty of players miss. You can't tap out halfway, stash your progress, then come back later. If you extract too early or get dropped, the chain starts over. So before you even think about route planning, sort your loadout and make room for mistakes. A safe pocket is the big one, and a solid stash of ARC Raiders Items can make the run far less painful when things go sideways. Once you're set, spawn on the eastern side of Spaceport and head to any Field Depot in that area. You don't need a perfect spawn. You just need to get inside, find the terminal, and use the field radio to send the patrol's last recorded message back to Shani.

Move west and hit the tower

After the radio call, the quest opens up properly and points you across the map. Your next stop is the old Raider Tower, the broken watchtower north of the Maintenance Hangar. It's in the southwest section, and yes, you've got to climb it. That climb is where people get careless. The tower puts you out in the open, and if another squad is already watching the area, you're an easy target. Take a second. Listen. Check the ridge lines and the hangar side before going up. At the top, use the second terminal to transmit the next log. The story starts to click here. The missing scouts weren't just lost. They'd clearly pushed beyond their assigned route, which makes the whole mission feel less like a rescue and more like you've stumbled into something you weren't meant to see.

Search the debris near the hangar

Once the second upload is done, head back down and cut over to the outside of the Maintenance Hangar. Don't waste time running through every doorway. The objective isn't inside. You're looking around the road and debris patch just southwest of the building. This area can be messy, and on a busy raid it's also where random fights tend to break out, so don't tunnel vision on the marker. Sweep the wreckage and scattered gear until you find the remains of the patrol. Interacting there pushes the quest into its last step and lets you loot the Scout Patrol Note. The second that note lands in your bag, move it into your safe pocket. Seriously, do it right away. A lot of runs get ruined because players leave it sitting in normal inventory for even a minute.

Getting out is the whole challenge

The last part sounds simple on paper: extract, return to Speranza, and hand the note to Shani. In practice, that's where the nerves kick in. You've already crossed a good chunk of Spaceport, probably made noise at two terminals, and now you're carrying the item that matters. Don't get greedy. Skip side fights, avoid long peeks, and pick the cleanest extraction path you've got. If you make it out, Shani wraps up the quest, gives you the Fax Machine backpack charm, and opens the next piece of the Spaceport story. It's one of those missions that feels much easier once you know the route, and going in with the right ARC Raiders Weapon setup helps a lot when you need to survive the final run to the evac.
